God & Sex
Sex is one of man's strongest drives. This impulse to couple
is millions of years older and in some ways smarter than our
own intelligence. We owe our existence to this timeless surge
of the male toward the female, the woman to the man. It's our
sex drive and not our intelligence which creates new life.
The sex drive, being in some ways smarter than our
intelligence, creates some of our current anxiety and much of
our humor. Here is just one quick example of both the anxiety
and the humor together: What is the difference between love,
true love, and showing off? "Spitting, swallowing, and
gargling." Biology says, "This makes me feel good. I need to
do it." And the answer comes, "No, man-made rules, ignorance
and superstition forbid you to have that."
There's only one driver stronger than the sex drive -- man's
drive toward God. And it's been this desire for unity with
God, paradoxically, that's led us to make up so many rules
and superstitions about sex.
