  Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is Sexual Enrichment Counseling Services (SECS)?

Sexual Enrichment Counseling Services Ltd. was founded in Chicago in 1965 by Dr. Dean Dauw, and was the nation’s first surrogate-assisted sex clinic available to clients without spouses. SECS addresses a full range of sexual issues, including impotence, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, inhibited ejaculation and lack of sexual desire.

2.  How do I know if I need sex therapy?

The quality of your sex life (or lack of it) will tell you. If you’re experiencing sexual dysfunctions or anxieties, if you’re impotent or often have "performance" difficulties, if you’ve lost the desire to have sex, you may be able to benefit from sex therapy—whether it’s simply having your questions answered by a trained therapist or scheduling a series of personal therapy sessions.

3.  What questions do you answer?

Any and all questions relating to human sexuality.

4.  How do you protect my privacy?

All information provided to Dr. Dauw and SECS is treated as confidential and is never shared or divulged to outside parties without the express consent of the individual.

5.  Who responds to my questions?

Dr. Dauw or a member of his staff.

6.  What are their credentials?

The clinical staff of SECS are trained clinical sexologists and/or social workers. Dr. Dauw’s credentials are described in detail in the Dr. Dean Dauw section of the web site.

7.  Do you treat both men and women?

Yes.

8.  How fast will someone get back to me?

Response time varies depending on the complexity of the question asked and clinic workload. It is the policy of SECS to respond to questions whenever possible within 72 hours of receipt.

9.  What do you charge?

There is no charge for questions e-mailed to the SECS web site. Rates and payment policies for individual sex therapy counseling, in face-to-face personal sessions or by phone, are discussed at the time the appointment is made.

10.  Can you help people learn techniques for "ESO" (Extended Sexual Orgasm)?

Yes. You’d be surprised at how many untapped powers you have.

11.  Can I schedule a personal appointment?

Yes. Dr. Dauw is available for individual sex therapy counseling at his offices in Chicago or Barrington, Illinois or by phone. All personal counseling sessions are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 1-312-644-1920.

"I’m proud I’ve been able to help thousands overcome sexual dysfunction. But I’m concerned about the millions more who need help but don’t get it. This is tragic. My goal in establishing this web site is to make professional sex therapy readily available to everyone with access to the Internet."

Dr. Dean Dauw, Ph.D., is a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Society for the Scientific Study of Sex (SSSS), and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists (FAACS).
